Even If the Fig Tree Does Not Blossom
Even if the fig tree does not blossom, God has not forgotten you. The barrenness you see is not the verdict He has spoken.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the sheepfold and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.”
— Habakkuk 3:17-18
Even if the fig tree does not blossom, God has not forgotten you. The barrenness you see is not the verdict He has spoken. His faithfulness does not depend on your harvest.
Even if there is no fruit on the vine, your labour is not wasted. Heaven keeps record of every seed sown in tears, and the God who sees in secret will reward openly. Even if the fields yield no food, He remains Jehovah Jireh. He fed Elijah by ravens and a widow's last handful of flour. Your provision is not tied to the economy of this world but to the covenant of your God. Even if the flock is cut off from the fold, the Shepherd has not left the sheep. He knows you by name, and no famine, no delay, no empty stall can separate you from His hand.
Even if everything you counted on falls silent, you can still rejoice. Not because of what you hold, but because of who holds you. The Lord God is your strength. He will make your feet like hinds' feet, and He will cause you to walk, not crawl, upon your high places. So lift your voice in the drought this week. Praise Him in the empty barn. Worship is not the fruit of your circumstances, it is the seed of your victory.
