The Assignment Was Accomplished

John 17:4; John 4:34

Obedience completed what striving never could.

Before the nails, Jesus could say that He had glorified the Father by doing the work given to Him. His life was not governed by applause, urgency or comparison. He knew His assignment.

Many of us are exhausted because we are trying to complete work God never gave us: pleasing everyone, controlling every outcome and proving that we deserve love. The cross frees us from that endless performance. You are saved by Christ’s work, not your ability to impress God.

Ask the Father what obedience looks like today. Grace does not make us passive. It makes us free to obey without bargaining for acceptance.

Which burden belongs to expectation rather than obedience?

Prayer

Father, separate my assignment from the demands I have placed upon myself. Help me obey from love, not fear. Amen.
