The Debt Is Paid

Colossians 2:13–14

Cancelled means cancelled.

Guilt keeps producing invoices for a debt Christ has already answered. It reminds you of the day, the words and the damage, then demands another payment through self hatred. But punishment cannot become repentance, and shame cannot repair the past.

At the cross, the record that stood against us was dealt with through Jesus. This does not make sin small. It reveals how great His mercy is. Honest repentance names the wrong, turns from it and receives forgiveness. It may also make restitution where possible, but it does not attempt to purchase what grace freely gives.

You honour the cross when you believe Christ’s payment is sufficient.

Are you repenting, or repeatedly punishing yourself?

Prayer

Jesus, I confess my sin and receive Your cleansing. Give me courage to repair what I can and grace to release what only You can redeem. Amen.

My debt is not greater than His sacrifice. In Christ, the charge against me is cancelled.
