Sickness Will Not Have the Final Word

Isaiah 53:4; Romans 8:23; Revelation 21:4

Pain is present, but it is not permanent.

A diagnosis can enter a room and make every other word sound distant. Yet sickness does not own your body, your worth or your future. Jesus entered human suffering, carried our griefs and revealed the compassion of God toward the sick.

We pray boldly for healing and receive appropriate medical care without shame. Sometimes healing is immediate. Sometimes it unfolds through treatment and time. Sometimes faithful people continue waiting. Delayed healing is not proof of weak faith, and no sufferer should be condemned.

The resurrection guarantees complete bodily redemption. A day is coming when pain and death are no more. Until then, we ask, trust, treat, wait and refuse to let sickness become our god.

What fear has the diagnosis planted that you need to surrender?

Compassionate Jesus, touch my body and strengthen my heart. Guide those who care for me. While I wait, keep me from fear and condemnation. Amen.
