Read it for yourself: Psalm 91:3

Delivered from the Snare

Psalm 91:3 - "Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence."

A snare is set quietly. The fowler does not announce his trap, he hides it, disguises it as something ordinary, a seed scattered where a bird would naturally look. Much of what threatens us does not arrive labelled as danger. It comes dressed as opportunity, as a familiar voice, as something that looked harmless until it had already closed around us.

This verse does not promise that no trap will ever be set. It promises deliverance from the ones that are. There is a kind of protection that works before you even notice the danger, a hand that redirects your steps, a delay that keeps you from a room you should not have entered, a friend's warning that arrives at just the right hour. Call it what you like. Scripture calls it the Lord delivering you from the fowler's snare.

Proverbs 3:5 to 6 teaches us to trust in the Lord rather than lean on our own understanding. We may not recognise every hidden danger, but God sees the whole path and is able to direct our steps.

If you look back over your life, you may remember moments when a closed door, an unexpected delay, or a timely warning kept you from harm. We cannot always explain what God prevented, but we can receive such moments with gratitude and trust the One who sees what we cannot see.

Look back over your life and remember a warning, delay or closed door that may have protected you. Thank God for the dangers you saw and for the ones only He could see.

Prayer

Lord, deliver me today from every hidden snare and from every plague that moves in darkness. Where I cannot see the trap, let your eyes see it for me, and move my feet before I ever draw near it. Amen.
