Read it for yourself: Psalm 91:8

Only Behold

Psalm 91:8 - "Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked."

There is a particular kind of peace in being a witness rather than a participant. This verse says you will see, with your own eyes, the outcome of wickedness, but you will see it from the position of one who was not caught in it. That is a very different vantage point from being in the middle of the reckoning yourself.

This is not a verse about relishing anyone's downfall. Scripture never gives us permission to feast on another person's ruin. It is a sober assurance that evil does not have the final word and that God's justice can be trusted, even when its timing is beyond our understanding.

Romans 12:19 tells believers not to avenge themselves, but to leave room for God's judgment. Trusting His justice frees the heart from the exhausting need to settle every score.

If you have been mistreated, overlooked, or tempted to fight every battle with your own hands, place the matter before God. Refuse revenge, guard your heart from bitterness, and leave final judgment with the righteous Judge.

Is there an offence you keep replaying or a battle you are determined to settle yourself? Ask God for the grace to reject revenge and trust His justice.

Prayer

Lord, give me the patience to watch and not to strike back. Let me trust that you see what is hidden and that outcomes belong to you. Keep my heart from bitterness while I wait. Amen.
