He Shall Answer

Psalm 91:15 - "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him."

Notice this verse does not say trouble will never come. It says when he calls, in trouble, God will answer. This is perhaps the most honest verse in the whole psalm, because it finally names what every reader already suspected, that dwelling in the secret place does not exempt you from trouble, it guarantees you company and answer within it.

There is a difference between a God who prevents every hard day and a God who is present and answering within the hard days that do come. Psalm 91 has been building toward both kinds of promises, and this verse settles it plainly, I will be with him in trouble. Not instead of trouble. In it.

Isaiah 43:2 does not say that waters and fire will never come. It says that when they come, God will be with His people. His presence in trouble is not a lesser promise. It is the assurance that we will never face the difficult place alone.

If you are in a season of trouble right now, this verse is not asking you to pretend otherwise. It invites you to call and trust that God hears. His answer may not arrive in the form or timing you expected, but his presence is not postponed until the trouble ends.

Where do you need to become more conscious of God's presence today? Call upon Him honestly and refuse to interpret delay as abandonment.

Prayer

Lord, I call upon you today, in whatever trouble I am facing. Thank you that you do not wait for trouble to pass before you show up, you come into it with me. Deliver me, and let your honour rest on what I have walked through. Amen.
