Your Word Is Truth

1 Kings 17:22 to 24 - "The word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth." 1 Kings 17:24 KJV (excerpt)

Elijah brings the living child downstairs and gives him back to his mother. Her final recorded words recognise him as a man of God and affirm the truth of the Lord's word in his mouth. The chapter closes with her testimony.

Look back over the journey. A brook supplied water and then dried up. A widow spoke honestly about hunger. A household ate through the drought, then faced a child's death. Elijah cried out, and God restored the child's life. These events belong together in a chapter that gives us provision, suffering, prayer and a particular miraculous answer.

The widow's testimony draws our attention to the truth of God's word. As you finish these readings, return to the passage itself. Let what God has revealed shape your trust more deeply than a slogan or someone else's prediction. His Word deserves careful attention in both relief and uncertainty.

Your circumstances may still need an answer. You can continue to pray while giving thanks for the kindness you have already received. Carry what you have learned into ordinary life: listen carefully, ask honestly, receive help and act faithfully. There is room to keep growing as you walk with God beyond the pages of this devotional.

Reflection

What have I learned from the passage that I need to practise?

What can I truthfully thank God for, and what am I still bringing to Him?

Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me as I have read Your Word. Let what I have learned become patience, wisdom and faithful action. Receive my gratitude and the requests that remain unanswered. Keep me close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Declaration for Today

God's Word will continue to shape the way I live beyond these readings. I carry forward what I have learned, with gratitude for His kindness and a heart willing to grow. I can keep praying where an answer is still needed. By His grace, I will walk with Him through the ordinary days ahead.
